DAY 1
Arrival in Guwahati • Transfer to Shillong • Local Sightseeing
Departure from Bengaluru by early morning flight to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. Upon arrival, proceed to Shillong, popularly known as the “Scotland of the East” for its scenic hills and pleasant climate. After lunch, proceed for Shillong local sightseeing. Police Bazaar, the main shopping and commercial hub. Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, a famous museum and cultural center that showcases the rich traditions and heritage of North-East India. Umiam Lake, a beautiful man-made lake surrounded by hills. Return to the hotel for overnight stay in Shillong.
DAY 2
Dawki River • Mawlynnong Village • Living Root Bridge
After breakfast proceed for a full day excursion towards the Indo-Bangladesh border. Umngot River, popularly known as Dawki River, famous for its crystal-clear water where boats appear as if floating in the air. Mawlynnong, recognized as “Asia’s Cleanest Village”. The village is known for its cleanliness, beautiful gardens, and traditional Khasi lifestyle. Living Root Bridge, a unique natural bridge formed by guiding the roots of rubber trees across streams. After sightseeing, return to Shillong. Overnight stay in Shillong.
DAY 3
Shillong – Cherrapunji Sightseeing – Shillong
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth, renowned for its spectacular waterfalls, caves, and lush landscapes. Visit the magnificent Seven Sisters Falls, where seven streams cascade down a massive cliff, creating a stunning natural spectacle, especially during the monsoon season. Continue to Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India. The breathtaking view of the waterfall plunging into a turquoise pool below makes it one of the highlights of the Meghalaya tour. Later, explore the fascinating Mawsmai Cave, a naturally formed limestone cave featuring impressive rock formations, narrow passages, and unique geological structures. After completing the sightseeing tour, enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Cherrapunji before returning to Shillong in the evening. Overnight Stay: Shillong
DAY 4
Transfer to Guwahati • Temple Sightseeing
After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Guwahati, the largest city in Assam located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Upon arrival proceed for temple sightseeing. Sita Temple, a sacred temple believed to be associated with Goddess Sita from the Ramayana. Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, built in South Indian architectural style. Navagraha Temple, an important temple dedicated to the nine celestial planets and considered spiritually significant for astrological beliefs.
Basistha Temple, an ancient temple located in a serene forest area believed to be associated with sage Vasistha from Hindu mythology. Return to the hotel for overnight stay in Guwahati.
DAY 5
Kamakhya Temple • Umananda Temple • Departure
Early morning (around 4:00 AM) proceed for darshan at Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya. The temple is located on Nilachal Hill and attracts thousands of devotees every year. After breakfast, visit Umananda Temple, a unique Shiva temple situated on Peacock Island in the Brahmaputra River, known as the smallest inhabited river island in the world. Later enjoy views of the mighty Brahmaputra River, one of Asia’s largest rivers and a lifeline of Assam. After sightseeing transfer to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport for your return flight to Bengaluru. Your tour concludes with wonderful memories of Meghalaya and Assam.
